Physical Appearance | The spinach plant has simple leaves that stem from the center of the plant, measuring about 2–30 cm (0.8–12.0 in) long and 1 to 15 cm (0.4–6.0 in) across. The leaves grow in a rosette and can appear crinkled or flat. The plant produces small yellow-green flowers, which are 3–4 mm (0.1 in) in diameter. |
Growing Condition | Sowing: Sow seeds at a depth of 3-4 cm, with a row-to-row spacing of 25-30 cm and a plant-to-plant spacing of 5-10 cm. Pests and Diseases: Spinach is susceptible to diseases such as Downy Mildew, Anthracnose, Cladosporium Leaf Spot, Stemphylium Leaf Spot, Damping-off, and Root Rot, as well as pests like Cutworms, Flea Beetles, Slugs or Snails, Aphids, and Leaf Miners. Harvesting: Harvest spinach by cutting off a few outer leaves from each plant or by chopping off the entire plant with scissors. Harvest before the plant matures fully to prevent leaves from turning bitter. |
